A message from Governor Tasso during the 50th meeting of the Iwate Prefecture

COVID-19 Countermeasures HQ (February 25th)

The number of new cases has continued to increase as they have set a new record and surpassed 300 cases per day. Viral spread has continued at school, education and childcare institutions in particular, and the number of cases of people ages 20 and under has increased.

Analyzing the spread, we have identified a large number of cases where children from school, education and childcare institutions go home and infect their family members. Then, the parents, and siblings go to school and work furthering the spread of infection.

Not bringing the corona virus into the household is important, but so is not catching it at, or taking it outside of the home.

The Iwate Corona Virus Expert Committee has given their stance on new measures for the current state of infection, and so I ask for everyone’s help in implementing them.

Everyone should wear masks even in the household when talking to the elderly and those with underlying conditions except children who find it difficult to do so.

If you have a fever, cough, or feel slightly under the weather, refrain from going outside, call the relevant medical staff, and make an appointment to see them as soon as you can.

Refrain from sending children with fevers or cold symptoms to school or childcare institutions.

For business owners set up an environment where it is easy to accommodate days off for parents who are effected by temporary closures of school, education, and childcare institutions.

The state of infection in the prefecture is one where anyone could become a close contact or infected themselves. Please take care of your lives and health. I once again would like to re-emphasize the continued abidance to basic corona virus prevention measures in order bring an end to the spread of infection as soon as possible.
