-A message given by Governor Tasso to Iwate residents (April 12th)-

In their most recent coronavirus control measures HQ meeting, the national government has revised basic policies under Section 24, Article 9 of the Special Measures for Pandemic Influenza and New Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Act to urge citizens in all prefectures, not only the seven declared in the state of emergency, to refrain from going out or indulging in businesses or restaurants with in-person services in downtown or shopping district areas as preventive measures to control the spread of the virus.

While we have yet to have confirmed cases in Iwate, I would like to implore Iwate residents to continue avoiding enclosed spaces with poor ventilation, gathering in crowded spaces with a lot of people, and conversing in close-contact spaces. Taking into consideration the recent changes in the basic policies, in addition to following basic preventive actions such as washing hands and practicing coughing etiquette, please also strongly refrain from going out to or indulging in businesses or restaurants with in-person services in downtown or shopping district areas.
